10 Things That Aren't Taught in the Bible (But That Are So Common You'd Think They Were)

I'm feeling kind of snarky (and as observant as always), so here you go:

1. If you are a woman, and a man says anything that you don't like, anything at all, no matter what it is and whether or not he is right or wrong, saying he's being "inappropriate" will put an end to any unpleasant conversation.

2. Similar to #1, as a female you can always get out of ever having to deal with anything unpleasant by rebuking the man for addressing you directly, and insist that he has someone of your same gender talk to you. It is especially effective because you don't have to be at all consistent about it - it's a sin for that particular male to address you directly about whatever it is, even if it's okay for others to do the same thing.

3. Facebook is okay for initiating discussion about most things, even serious things, unless you really don't like what the other person is saying. In that case, it was wrong for them to use Facebook to bring up whatever they brought up, regardless of whether they are right or wrong.
- Admittedly, this could go for non-Christians too, but being religious adds another layer of seriousness to the otherwise mundane things you do in your daily life, and so I see it there most often.

4. If another Christian wrongs you in any way, and later repents genuinely, you have fulfilled your biblical requirement to forgive them from your heart, as God has forgiven you (Matthew 18:35; Ephesians 4:32), by simply saying you "forgive" them. You are not in any way required to let them even attempt to fix your relationship, nor are you required to have anything to do with them at all or treat them any differently then you would a hostile stranger.

5. Prayer is to always be done on your knees with your heads bowed; doing anything flamboyent like raising your hands to the sky is inappropriate (1 Timothy 2:8).

6. A girl must never ever ask a guy out or be the first to express romantic desire; it violates proper gender roles.

7. If you are 20 years old or older, and have been in a relationship for 6 months or more, you are for all intents and purposes betrothed (in other words, you aren't yet married, but there's really no breaking up allowed at this point - you're getting married and that's that).

8. Everyone is supposed to get married and have kids, if they can help it, and ideally they are to do it at a young age (because anyone who waits until they are 25 or older is probably sexually immoral).

9. The most important thing you can do as a Christian is to maintain "good witness," which means never ever doing anything, even for an otherwise righteous purpose, that could allow anyone to think you were sinning. After all, Jesus never ever did anything that made people think He was sinning (Matthew 11:19; Luke 13:10-17), nor did He ever defend His disciples for doing non-sinful deeds that looked sinful (Matthew 12:1-7).

And to lighten the mood a little...
